Mythic
This series of paintings draws its inspiration from a world that is no longer readily apparent.
Influenced by ancient Chinese and medieval European art, Jonathan Wall has created a
vision of an inner, mythic world. The borders, inspired by Persian carpets and illuminated
manuscripts from the Middle Ages, are part of the paintings. They offer a magical, narrative
context through which to enter the imaginary space of the image.
