Reincarnation
(
The Parade)

Once I knew a lovely girl,
She seemed as flighty as a squirrel,
As hard to manage as her curl,
On day she wasn't there.

Then there was a tiny flame,
A candle sprite who lived a game,
Her burning heart I couldn't tame,
She vanished in thin air.

Next I saw a pretty bird,
The sweetest song I ever heard,
My melancholy mood he cured,
But then he flew away.

I saw an enchanted cloud
That took the shape of phoenix proud,
With mystery it was endowed,
Yet wouldn't stay that way.

All the objects of my zeals
Whisper things my spirit feels,
Another's coming on the heels
Of one that got away.
